Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care and nursing support tasks within hospital, long term care, or home care settings. This role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, supporting nursing staff, and ensuring patient comfort and safety across various care units including skilled nursing facilities, intermediate care facilities, medical, and surgical units. The position requires flexibility to work any shift and deliver compassionate, high-quality care.

Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with routine activities of daily living such as hygiene, feeding, ambulation, and positioning.
• Perform range of motion exercises and provide skin care to prevent breakdown.
• Collect patient data including vital signs, weights, and specimens (urine, stool, sputum) and document accordingly.
• Support nursing staff by performing delegated patient care procedures including incentive spirometry, pulse oximetry, suctioning, blood sugar testing, and EKGs.
• Prepare patient rooms, assist with admissions, discharges, and post-mortem care.
• Communicate patient status and report changes to licensed nursing staff promptly.
• Maintain and clean medical equipment and supplies, coordinate equipment needs and notify appropriate departments of malfunctions.
• Perform clerical duties such as answering unit phones, data entry, and patient registration activities as needed.
• Assist in emergency situations under nurse supervision.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR certification at hire.
• Ability to perform direct patient care tasks and follow established procedures.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in hospital or long-term care environments.
• Familiarity with multiple care units such as SNF, ICF, medical, and surgical units.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to work any shift, including rotating shifts with no set days off.
• Position may require working in various care units and possibly providing home care.
• Ability to adapt to fast-paced and changing healthcare environments.

Scheduling:

• Full-time position requiring 40 hours per week.
• Flexible availability to work any shift as assigned.
